Street Art

Came across this colourful artwork in Centre Place off Flinders Lane.

Ring...ring...

Part of the laneway commissions 2006, you will find this intruiging installation in Lush Lane (off Flinders Lane). Unplug your ipod so you can hear the unforgettable sound of the obsolete public telephones.

Public Artwork

Near China Town, in a non descript alleyway I came across this interesting piece of public artwork which is based on a census taken in Australia in 1996. (Brien Lane)

Gallery Funaki Jewellery

Mari Funaki's gallery showcases beautiful contemporary pieces of jewellery in a range of materials. Visit the space and be inspired. (4 Crossley St)

Metropolis Bookstore

A favourite of mine, so much so I wish the collection of books belonged to me but don't we all. Metropolis carries a specialist range of books focusing on art, graphic design, architecture, photography, fashion and textiles, film and music. There are other gems in the building which are more than worthy of their own blog.

Mr Tulk Cafe

The beautiful State Library now has something else going for it - a great cafe. Mr Tulk, named after the first Victorian librarian, is a great place to hang out and serves delicious treats. Be sure to pick up the funky bookmarks on your way out.
